Yesterday on 8th of June India played its second ODI in Champions Trophy 2017 against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the toss and put India to bat first as it was a greenish pitch at Oval. The openers again started well with a partnership of 138 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 78 runs off 79 balls before he got caught out by Thisara Parera on the ball of Lasith Malinga. Later skipper Kohli got out on a duck and Yuvraj got out on 7 runs, who were the star of Last Match. Dhawan and Dhoni added 82 runs for 4th wicket. Dhawan played a great century knock of 125 runs off 128 balls with 15 fours and 1 six. While Dhoni stabilized and powred the Indian innings with his knock of 63 runs off 52 balls with 7 boundaries and 2 great sixes. Pandya too was not good wih bat unlikely to his innings in last match. The innings was finished by Kedhar Jadhav who scored 25 runs off 17 balls and led India to a good total of 321 for six at the end of 50 over. In the first innings MAlinga took two wickets, while Lakmal, Parera, Pradeep and Gunaratne got 1 wicket each.

In the second Innings the Sri Lankan opening started lose with Niroshan Dickewella getting caught out on a ball of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar on the score of 7. After that it was the Sri Lankan batting the match was about.Danushka and Kushal Mendis batted really well to add 159 runs for the second wicket. Luck and bowling did not favour India as some catches did not carry and the bowlers did not bowled on the right lengths and line. Danushka got run out on 76 off 72 balls by Umesh Yadav by very fast throw to Dhoni who took the bails off in blink of eyes. Later Kushal Mendis who was looking in good touch got out in a suicidal run out by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in his over. Mendis scored 89 off 93 balls. The Sri Lankan batsman did not  give a single chance for the Inidan bowlers to make a comeback in the match. The two new batsmen Kushal Perera and skipper Angelo Mathews carried out the momentum in their batting and cruised towards victory. Kushal Perera was retired hurt on 47 due to his back injury, after which Gunarantne came in and started thrashing Indian bowlers. Gunaratne scored 34 off 21 balls with two boundaries and two sixes. Mathews played captain’s knock of 52 runs off 45 balls with 6 boundaries to lead his team to victory. Bhuvaneshwar kumar was the only Indian bowler to get a wicket. Other bowlers wnet too expensive. Even Kedar Jadhav was used and skipper Kohli had to try his hand too. Kohli was seen running out of options and displayed little bit of poor captaincy by not using right bowling options at the right time. The field setting was little bit defensive too.

With the win of Sri Lanka group B has become the group of Death. In the next two matches which ever teams win will go to the semis. India will have to beat South Africa in their next match on 11th June. Hope that this time too Team India lifts the cup.
