SBI has recently disclosed new 2403 vacancies for the post of Bank P.O. SBI recently declared the date for the exam of SBI PO 2017. The pattern of the exam will be same as that of previous SBI PO exam which will have two steps exam viz. pre and mains exam. The pre exam for the post will be held in different sessions on 20 and 30th April and 6 and 7th May 2017. The selected students of SBI PO pre exam will be eligible for the mains exam which will be held on 4 June 2017. The students who will get selected in mains exam will be called for interview and group basis activities. Any candidate whose age is between 21 and 30 years as on 1 July 2017 and graduate from any stream are eligible for the pre exam of SBI PO.
Changes in SBI PO 2017 :
SBI has changed the third stage of process of selection. In the third stage, there will be interview and group based activities in place of interview and group discussion. The group based activities includes objective and descriptive test. Along with group based activities there will be interview too.
The candidate who belongs to OBC category needs to submit non creamy layer certificate and those candidate who will not be able to submit the non creamy layer certificate, they will even not considered for interview in general category.
Eligibility Criteria for exam:
Nationality – Indian
Age limit – Candidate’s age should be between 21 to 30 years as on 1 July 2017.
Educational qualification – The candidate should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
The exam of SBI PO will be organized at 44 different centers all over the country. Candidate is required to choose center while form filling. After submission, choice of center can’t be amended on any condition. Candidate is required to reach the test center by own and SBI will not be responsible for any loss during the journey to reach the test center.
Number of attempts
Those candidates who have crossed the limit of maximum number of attempts are not eligible for exam. The number of attempts will be counted from the exam of April 2010.

According to this year’s notification regarding SBI PO Salary,
- the pay scale for SBI PO is:`23700-980/7-30560-1145/2-32850-1310/7-42020 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I.
- Presently, the starting basic pay is `27,620/- (with 4 advance increments).
- Not only this, The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. Allowances may vary depending upon the place of posting.
- The total compensation per annum would be a minimum of 7.55 lakhs and maximum of 12.93 lakhs depending on the place of posting and other factors.
- Also, SBI plans to offer SMART Compensation Package which would enable candidates a choice to monetize specific elements of the salary package
Note – Final merit list will be prepared based on the marks of mains exam, interview and group based activities. The marks of pre exam will not be included in final merit list.
The scores of the two rounds viz. mains exam and that of the interview will be normalized to 100 as follows.

Pattern of Objective Test of Mains Exam
The mains exam will take place in two parts viz. objective test of 200 marks and descriptive test of 25 marks. Both tests will be conducted online only.
The test pattern of objective mains exam will be as follows:

There is a provision of penalty on the wrong answer in mains as well as in pre exam. The one fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be negative if answer will be wrong.
The syllabus for reasoning, aptitude and English will be same as that of pre exam for mains also.
However syllabus of Data interpretation will include following topics
Tables, Pie-Charts, Bar Graphs, Data Analysis, Line Graphs, Case lets, Combined data sets, Probability/Series.
And syllabus of general awareness of banking will include
News related to Reserve Bank of India, Banking Awareness, Financial Awareness (Union Budget/ Railway Budget),Economics news, Current Affairs – Questions can be asked from various fields such as: National, International, Awards, Sports, Defense, Summits, Appointment, Books & Authors and Obituary etc, Basics of Marketing, Marketing Strategies, Market Segmentation, Marketing Management, Marketing Mix, Developing stage of organization, Brand, Advertising, Products Life Cycle, 4 P’s and 4 C’s of marketing Basic of Computer, Hardware and software, Operating system, MS Word and MS Excel, PowerPoint Generation of Computer, The internet, Abbreviations.
Pattern of Descriptive Test of Mains Exam
The descriptive paper will be of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks assigned to the test of English Language. You will be tested on Letter Writing & Essay. You will be needed to secure passing marks to qualify the Descriptive Test, to be decided by the Bank.
NOTE: The Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.
Group discussion and Interview
The total marks obtained by the candidates in both objective and descriptive test of mains exam will be arranged in descending order and an adequate number of candidate will be called by the bank for GD and Interview round.
Candidates will finally be selected to be deputed in State bank of India (SBI) and the result of the successful candidates will be published in Employment News/Rozgar, Samachar and also on Bank’s website.
